The self-basting lid was a standard feature of American cast iron at its peak and has been largely absent from cookware made since. Field Company revived it here: the No.12 lid fits the No.12 Field Company Skillet exactly, with concentric interior ridges that circulate moisture back onto the cooking surface during braises and long cooks. Cast from 100% iron, pre-seasoned with organic oil, and made to be handed down.
